Friday Morning Reflection

I love cigars.

"What the heck does that have to do with reflection?" you might ask.

Well, having a cigar on Friday mornings (a weekly routine of mine) allows me the time to calm the mind and reflect on ideas. As I watch the Florida sun rise, I am inspired to jot down the crazy, the mundane, the far-fetched ideas that will propel my life in the direction that I want it to go, allowing me to become the person that I aspire to be.

It's not a healthy habit, these cigars - I am aware. But, I no longer consume alcohol, and so rather than unwinding on a Friday evening with a drink, it affords me the calm mental horsepower to really understand what to tackle during the morning, which finds me at my highest energy. I can relax, knowing that this time is scared and mine alone. AirPods Pro in noise cancellation mode help to filter out distractions, too.

I liken it to a proper GTD Weekly Review, where I am looking at the past events in my calendar, the future to unfold in the next week in Fantastical, and what I would ideally like to be working on.

You may find that a nice relaxing tea does the same for you, but I urge you - find that quiet space, the same time every week, to really unload what could be onto a page or text editor so that you can parse these ideas into action.

As always, you can find me on Mastodon personally and at Bowers Voice's handle.

Have a great review!
