My favorite iOS 17 features

iOS 17 is a nice “quality of life” update here for your iPhone.

I love StandBy mode on the nightstand. My iPhone transforming into an old-school clock that looks like something I would’ve used in 1987 is impressive. It’s very cool to see my task list as well as the next days events or a giant clock right by my bedside.

However, one of the features that I wasn’t sure would A) work, and B) be interesting enough to mention was AirPods Pro’s ability to have what Apple has dubbed Conversational Awareness. This feature rocks.

I can leave my AirPods Pro in noise, cancellation mode, and with this feature turned on, I can suddenly hear if somebody is speaking to me. This is especially nice if you were listening to a podcast with AirPods Pro, and your hands are deep and soap, when somebody walks up to you and starts speaking. Instead of asking Siri to pause, and then holding the stems of the AirPods Pro, so that they go into Transparency Mode, you can simply answer back and the volume will be lowered, and your media will pause playing for the moment!

Truly magical.

You can find the setting under your iPhone Settings > AirPods Pro and then turn on the Conversational Awareness slider.
