WWDC25 Hopes

Pain points that I see as needing to be addressed, and things I’d like to see.

Apple Intelligence Fixes

Writing Tools

Apple Intelligence’s Writing Tools doesn’t give me a predictable output of its “List” feature everywhere. Some apps (like Things) get those bullet points displayed after you request the list, and some apps (Messages) don’t. Would love to see this fixed everywhere.

Rollout, take-two

The company has to address its failure…somehow. I love Apple; but they rarely admit fault, and are too PR-messaging-focused these days. If Tim Cook walks out and says something like “…Our customers have told us they use Apple Intelligence to get things done every day…”, then it’s quite obvious that Apple is navel gazing, and not paying attention to an industry passing them by. I have a lot of faith, but man - they have to get with the AI program.

Native app enhancements

  • Links in Apple Mail, so that I can copy a mail message link and place it in my task manager or a note.

  • Apple Notes, Markdown-mode? Probably not. One can hope.

  • I use Castro, but would like to see Apple Podcasts have a better workflow for listening to episodes. The “Up Next/Add Next” lingo is a little confusing. I get how to do it, but it’s not intuitive.

OS-Level Capabilities

  • Third-party developer background sync on Apple Watch.

  • A full Control Center on Mac. One of the things that I have implemented on iOS and iPadOS is a quick Control Center access to some favorite production apps (MindNode, iA Writer, Things). Would love to see that on the Mac as opposed to having to build Shortcuts to live in the Menu Bar.

  • 1 X 2 Widgets on iOS. I like to have widget matches between all OS’s, and the iPhone requires more space - or smaller widgets.

Developer Treatment

I’m not, nor will ever be a developer, but from what I seem to be seeing on social media or in the news, Apple had better do something for developers. I don’t know if it’s an incremental fee adjustment based on volume, various levels of API access, or what. But the sentiment seems to be at a low right now.

In all earnestness, here is to a happy and amazing WWDC!
